Planned works on Northwich Rd over bridge next week.
As you know as part of the M6 J16-19 smart motorway project we are also required to improve the condition of the over bridges that span the M6.
On Friday 23rd we are planning to carry out core works on this over bridge to ascertain the condition of the bridge under the surface, we will bring a small rig onto the bridge which will drill down into the surface to bring up a core of the under layers.
We have sought permission from Cheshire East who want us to carry out the core works at night, to reduce disruption so we will begin work at 7pm on the Friday until 6am.
This is not a particularly noisy activity and should not cause disruption.
Due to the narrow width of the bridge we need to close the bridge to allow room to carry out the cores and allow space for the rig and the workers, it is not wide enough to allow all of this and for traffic to pass around under traffic management.
Advance warning signage of the one night bridge closure should be out now to inform road users in the area.
Access will be available in the event of an emergency.
